The OneSource company data file is typically located on a file server.  To prevent loss of data or file corruption, it is important that the server not be shut down or rebooted while other users are connected to the server.  To double check which users are accessing which files on your Windows 2000/2003 server, follow these steps:

  1. Log into a local session of your Server using Remote Desktop (or by physically logging into the server box)

  2. Right click on the My Computer (located on your desktop or on your Start Menu).

  3. Select the Manage option.

  4. Click on the Shared Folders folder.

  5. Double-Click on the Open Files folder.

  6. In the right hand pane, make note of any items in the list in the columns Open File, Accessed By, #Locks, Open Mode, etc.

  7. Make sure all open files are closed before proceeding to shut down or reboot your server.
